Facebook Affects Casey Anthony Trial Jury Pool
If you want to get on the jury in the Casey Anthony trial, be careful what you write on Facebook.
The Florida court trying Anthony for the murder of her daughter Caylee dismissed one juror this week after he posted on his Facebook page that "book coming soon," reports CNN.
It seems potential jurors will need to take care what they say on social media sites like Facebook in the future.
Facebook has already been called the divorce lawyer's best friend. Now that potential juror's loose-lipped statements on Facebook has led to his dismissal from the jury pool in the high-profile Casey Anthony trial.
The court dismissed another juror from the panel because of remarks posted on Twitter. That juror said "Cops in Florida are idiots and completely useless," reports the ABA Journal.
The process of jury selection, or "voir dire," proceeds in the Casey Anthony case this week. Prosecutors want to have the jury sworn, and begin their opening statements as soon as possible.
"The longer we wait, the more dangers there are," said Judge Belvin Perry, Jr., of the Orange County Superior Court, CNN reports.
Prosecutors have prepared an opening statement emphasizing that Anthony used "a substance" to kill her daughter, says CNN. Jury selection in the Casey Anthony trial goes forward in the Clearwater, Florida, Superior Court. But the trial itself will be conducted in Orlando.
