'That's So Raven's' Orlando Brown Gets 180 Days in Jail

"That's So Raven's" Orlando Brown has moved on to "Not So Law-Abiding" and is headed for jail. Move over post-"Parent Trap" Lindsay Lohan, there's a new former Disney star set for primetime DUI drama.

Brown was arrested for drunk driving back in 2011 during a routine traffic stop. But as with most former Disney stars, Brown's DUI case couldn't seem to go smoothly.

What should have been a relatively minor misdemeanor drunk driving charge spiraled into a drawn-out lesson on how not to handle a DUI charge.

Losing DUI Alternative Sentences

Typically, a low-level first-time DUI offender can avoid jail and receive an alternative sentence such as house arrest or even probation peppered with alcohol education and/or community service.

But it seems That's So (Not) Brown's style.

The actor went to jail late last month after he failed to proffer proof that he completed court-ordered alcohol education classes, reports TMZ.

He was sentenced to 180 days in prison. Luckily for Brown, he will only spend 27 days in jail -- and no, it's not because of Paris Hilton-esque preferential celebrity treatment.

Rather, Brown can thank California's notorious prison overcrowding for his significantly reduced expected jail time.

Playing Chicken With Bench Warrants

A judge may issue a bench warrant for the arrest of a person who is in contempt of court or indicted. In many cases, it's essentially an arrest warrant for failing to obey the authority of the court.

In this case, the bench warrants were issued for Brown's arrest after he repeatedly failed to follow court orders, according to TMZ.

Yet Brown managed to dodge four bench warrants in the last year.

Unfortunately for Brown, he didn't learn from his fellow crestfallen Disney colleague's bench warrant mishaps (we're talking LiLo, of course). You can only escape bench warrants for so long before judges catch on and figure out a way to make you pay.

And so, at the end of a protracted DUI saga, Brown is finally behind bars. That's So Sad... yet, he has no one to blame but himself.
