The latest in the installment of ... attorneys behaving questionably who have made the news involves one in his birthday suit, who then also got tased.
Let's strip this one down, shall we? (Sorry, had to).
Police have arrested a naked prowler, Ronald Combs, this past weekend after having tased him, the Gainesville Sun reports. Combs, 59, is a senior assistant city attorney for Gainesville and has been for nearly three decades.
What was Combs doing without his clothes, anyway?
According to a Gainesville Police report, a woman was inside her home early 6 a.m. on Saturday morning when she was awakened by a noise. That noise turned out to be a naked man actually inside her house and standing in front of her in her bedroom, no less. According to The Sun, once the man, presumably Combs, saw that she was awake, he ran off.
The woman then called the police right away and once they showed up onto the scene, witnessed a man wearing not one stitch of cloth on his body -- except a skull cap and running shoes.
The police chased him, Combs, and once it was clear that he showed no signs of stopping, they finally shot him with a Taser.
Some (or okay, many) questions remain. Did Combs know the woman whose house he broke into? Where were his clothes? Was he just smashed like our Hangover lawyer was from partying? Or, was this a more disturbing reminder of alcoholism and mental instability running rampant among lawyers?
Combs has now been charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling, prowling and resisting arrest without violence. As of earlier this week, he remained in county jail without bond.
