The Many Hidden Talents of FindLaw Staff

We here are FindLaw aren't just lawyers. (Or journalists, or social media genii.) And we don't spend every hour of the day churning out the best consumer and legal professional content on the web.

Many of us have lives and hobbies that extend beyond the walls of our Sunnyvale, California offices -- here are just a few:

Mark Wilson, Senior Writer for Legal Professional Blogs

When he's not laying down legal limericks or elucidating the intricacies of First Amendment case law, Mark is practicing criminal appellate law. "That's my after-school activity, and it started when I was a post-bar fellow at the First District Appellate Project in San Francisco," says Wilson, "After that fellowship, they offered me a spot on their outside panel, and I've been defending convicted criminals on appeal ever since."

And his nights-and-weekends gig does help out in his 9-to-5: "It really helps at FindLaw because I have experience as a practicing solo attorney, which informs some of our blogs, and I also have substantive criminal law knowledge, which helps sometimes when there's a legal question in one of our blogs." His appellate clients are lucky to have someone with Mark's diligence, work ethic, and attention to detail.

Tanya Roth, Managing Editor

As anyone who's worked with Tanya or read her writing on the intersection between fashion and the law can tell you, the lady's got an eye for style. But we think Community Marketing Lead Laura Strachan said it best:

Not only is our fashionista editor good at spotting errors and picking topics, the girl has a serious eye for doing the same thing with clothing. She actually used to work as a personal shopper/stylist for other people before and a little bit during her early time at FindLaw. She is my go to source when I am trying to decide what to splurge on and what to save on. In addition to fashion she is seriously talented when it comes to arranging flowers...a custom Tanya bouquet is something all her friends and family look forward to on birthdays.

Now we just need Tanya to take her talents to the entire office -- I expect some style seminars to be popping up on the office calendar soon.

Wild Sides

Just about all of us and FindLaw have some hidden passion. I can vouch for the homebrew Senior Writer for Consumer Content Steve Tanner cooks up in his kitchen, and Editor and Team Lead for Core Content Corey Licht has been known to cook up some tasty beats. And we can't help but carry some of our varied interests into our diverse office and wide range of work. If you don't believe me, just click around ...
