Top 5 Tips for Holiday Shoppers

You're frantic, stressed. You really aren't thinking straight. This can only mean one thing this time of year -- it's time for some last-minute holiday shopping.

If you're amongst the masses participating in this ritual, you're probably in need of a bit of advice. And while we have no idea what you should buy your long lost cousin, we've got a few holiday shopping tips to help make your search a little less painful.

Hey, it's better than nothing at all. Right?

1. Check those prices. Did you know that you pay the lowest marked price? Well, in most circumstances you do. So keep ads on hand and look at price tags. Watch closely and let the cashier know if any of your items ring up at a higher price.

2. Layaway plans aren't that great. They sound helpful, but it might be cheaper to put last minute items on your credit card. Do the math and decide what's best for you.

3. Gift returns are no fun. Most stores will not accept returns or exchanges without a receipt. So before you stand in that long line, do your homework. Read the return policy, or ask when you make that last minute purchase.

4. Protect your identity. Last minute holiday shopping is chaos. But last minute holiday shopping online can cause chaos throughout the next year. Take the time to ensure that you're shopping online safely. If the deal is too good, google the website for reviews. A lot of fake sites pop up this time of year.

5. Protect your body. Shopping injuries are real, and they're not just limited to Black Friday. You can slip and fall, get stuck in an escalator, or get hit by a car. You may even lose your kid. So pay attention and don't rely on other frantic shoppers to keep you safe.

Now that you've reviewed our holiday shopping tips, it's time to get your shopping on. Have fun and remember to breathe.
