'Abandoned' Barbie Jeep Gets Ticketed by Cop

A hot-pink toy Barbie Jeep got a bright orange reminder from police to stop leaving the molded plastic vehicle in the street.

According to Salt Lake City's KUTV, an officer spotted the iconic Mattel mini jeep blocking a driveway in Cedar Hills, Utah, last week. The officer decided to leave an "abandoned vehicle" ticket as a lesson about proper parking -- or about how little crime there is in the sleepy neighborhood.

Good thing Barbie didn't have to retrieve her ride from the impound.

Girls Leave Barbie Jeep in the Street

KUTV reports that the ticketed pink liability belongs to two young girls who live nearby -- the younger of whom admitted to leaving the jeep on the sidewalk.

You can see KUTV's images of the ticketed toy in this clip from ABC News:

Although the abandoned vehicle "ticket" for the Barbie Jeep was simply a joke from Officer McFriendly -- the tag contained no fine or court notice -- there are real consequences for leaving your car out in the street.

If the "real" Barbie (the doll) had decided to ditch her Jeep in a Utah suburb, the blond bombshell -- who, at 54, is really making life in plastic look fantastic these days -- would've had her vehicle towed to the impound lot.

A vehicle is officially considered abandoned in the Beehive State when it has been left on a public highway for more than 48 hours or on public or private property without consent for more than seven days.

The vehicle was probably just left there overnight, but Barbie could still get a ticket for blocking a driveway.

Fake Tickets, Real Stress

According to ABC News, the abandoned vehicle tag was left on the plastic Jeep to notify the neighborhood that the "police were patrolling their streets," not to penalize the owner.

Whether the ticket was real or not, parking and traffic tickets are a constant source of stress to drivers, and there are a few ways to fight them.

It's not like Barbie would lose her cool over something like a parking ticket anyway; she manages to work about a dozen different high-stress jobs without breaking her trademark smile.

Bratz dolls don't have these kinds of problems, they take the bus.
