In a recent post, we talked about a new FindLaw release, "Tips on Remodeling Your Home." FindLaw not only offers legal information to the more than 4 million monthly visitors to its site, but also offers news releases and surveys to bring its accessible, useful legal information to an even wider audience.

New Products From FindLaw

Spring has sprung and so have some new products from FindLaw. FindLaw's product suite is expanding to include some exciting changes that will bring even more value and options to our customers -- ultimately giving them the opportunity to build an online marketing strategy that best fits their practice. Here's a look at some of the updates:

  • Blog Services: The newly renovated blogging platform is the most robust, easy-to-use legal blogging platform on the market. Not only does the platform provide a comprehensive blogging dashboard that enables firms to be highly effective bloggers, the platform also has an RSS feed, blog training materials, quick links, and a blog optimizer that helps ensure users are able to make the most of their blog. FindLaw also has two new blog service offerings - Blog Service Starter and Blog Service Essential.

Legal Blogs

  • Barry Bonds' perjury trial began this week in San Francisco. Though steroids have played a prominent part in the slugger's legal history, he is not actually being prosecuted for illegal drug use. He is being prosecuted for lying under oath. FindLaw's Blotter breaks down what constitutes perjury and how it is proven.

FindLaw.com is the site that legal consumers and professionals come to for accessible and useful legal information. We work hard to give our visitors the kind of knowledge they can use in their everyday lives. FindLaw also provides useful information in the form of news releases, including our latest release, Parents: Prevent Your Child from Being a Victim of Cyberbullying.

Cyberbullying, the bullying of a person through the use of an electronic device such as a computer or cell phone, is becoming a growing national problem.

From fake Facebook pages to the posting of embarrassing videos and photos, more than 20 percent of today's U.S. students, ages 10 to 18, report being a victim of cyberbullying.

When did you join the FindLaw team / how did you get here?

I joined FindLaw in May of 2008. I began as a Design Intern after finishing school with a degree in Graphic Design and a degree in Web Design/Multimedia. After completing my internship, I was brought on at FindLaw as an Interactive Designer. My experience in addition to my schooling includes working as a Graphic Design Specialist for Dakota County Technical College.

Legal Blogs

  • Illinois Death Penalty Ban Signed by Governor: This week, Governor Pat Quinn signed into law the abolition of capital punishment in the state of Illinois. Further, the governor commuted the sentences of fifteen men on death row. FindLaw's Blotter looks at this important development in criminal jurisprudence.

Recently, Senior Director of Product Development, Mark Jacobsen, shared his views with Legal Management Magazine on how and why law firms should use social media in an article on the ingredients of successful websites. Mark's thoughts, along with those from Chris Kraft of FindLaw's sister business, Hubbard One, are not only insightful and useful for firms exploring the idea of using social media and an online presence to connect with potential clients, but also speak to the depth and breadth of knowledge the marketing professionals at FindLaw enjoy bringing to their work.

According to Jacobsen, the full impact that social media will have on legal marketing is still not yet fully known. However, one thing is already clear: social media is increasingly where the prospective clients are.

They say nothing in life is free, but this week, FindLaw has a one-hour webcast on how to attract clients to your law firm's website. The cost: zero dollars (i.e., it really is free).

The free seminar, entitled "Websites That Work: Attracting the Clients Your Law Firm Desires," will be held twice on Thursday, March 10.

As you surely know, the Internet is often the first stop for an increasing number of legal consumers. When people are in need of legal representation, these days they go to their desktops and laptops.

FindLaw Launches Branded YouTube Page

Although it's only March, there have already been a lot of exciting new developments at FindLaw. One recent development is our improved presence on YouTube, the second largest search engine after Google.1 In January, FindLaw launched a newly branded YouTube channel in order to enhance FindLaw's YouTube presence and maximize the availability of our clients' multimedia information.
