At the beginning of 2012, the FindLaw.com audience team out in California set a goal to gain 100,000 followers across all the FindLaw.com social networks by the end of the year. In accomplishing that goal, the team also wanted to make sure that they maintained the same level of fantastic community engagement that all of our networks enjoy. Mission accomplished.

When it comes to social networks, FindLaw.com really has something for every audience and interest. FindLaw.com social networks include: consumer and legal professional Facebook and Twitter accounts, consumer Google+ page, a LinkedIn account and Scribd page. Our social networks are not only dynamic legal communities but also represent a chance for FindLaw.com to interact directly with our users. This interaction gives us a chance to know the legal issues affecting our users the most and provide meaningful interactions.

What is New at FindLaw in Q4

FindLaw is the web's most popular legal website, with more than 4 million monthly visitors. We constantly bring fresh, relevant content to both consumers and legal professionals alike. FindLaw visitors are looking for up to date legal information, news, blogs, commentary, lawyers, answers, forms and help with all their legal needs and questions. By continuously updating and developing new content, we aim always to deliver the most relevant information to anyone who comes looking for it on FindLaw.com.

The last quarter of 2010 has been no exception. In addition to the continuing posts from FindLaw's current 20+ blogs, we have expanded our network of hyper-local bogs focused on specific legal topics in more than 12 metro areas. New core legal content also has been added to the Learn About the Law section of the FindLaw site, providing visitors with accurate and accessible legal information they can use every day. Some of the best new additions include:

Last month we brought you news that FindLaw.com was planning to launch its first ever television commercial in the Atlanta market. We know you've been waiting patiently and we're excited to announce that the FindLaw.com TV commercial is now running. It's always good to have family and friends to turn to when life gets tough. But when life gets legal, where can you go? In case you are not one of the 4.8 million monthly visitors to the most popular legal information site on the web, maybe we can show you the answer with the help of good, old-fashioned TV. Soon, FindLaw.com will let the Atlanta, Georgia market in on one of the web's best resources for legal help; for anyone, anytime.

Contact Law Joins the FindLaw Family

Over the past year, Contact Law, the UK's leading provider of client referral services to small and medium-sized UK firms, has become part of the FindLaw, and Thomson Reuters family. By acquiring Contact Law last year, FindLaw gained a business with proven and growing success serving many of the same types of firms served by FindLaw in the US. Combining Contact Law's proven business model with FindLaw's market leading web based offerings for small and mid-sized firms means new solutions for UK solicitors, growth for Contact Law and growth for FindLaw.

This month, FindLaw proudly named Karl Florida as its new president. We here at FindLaw could not be more excited to have Karl at the helm.

Karl replaces Chris Kibarian, who will now serve as the president of Thomson Reuters, Legal's Business of Law unit. Having Karl as the new FindLaw president, combined with Chris' boost within the Thomson Reuters family, spells a bright future for FindLaw and the entire Business of Law unit of Thomson Reuters, Legal.

For FindLaw, this means expanding on the company's position as the leading provider of web marketing solutions for small and mid-sized law firms, and growing what is already the world's leading legal website for consumers. I think Karl put it best: "Our mission at FindLaw is to connect people who experience legal issues with the attorneys who can meet their needs."

Thomson Reuters Acquires Super Lawyers

On February 1, Thomson Reuters acquired Super Lawyers, the attorney rating service that recognizes attorneys who have achieved the highest levels of professional accomplishment and peer recognition.

How does the Super Lawyers rating system differ from other attorney rating systems in the marketplace?

For consumers seeking legal information on the web, there is one destination that continues to stand out.

Once again in 2009, FindLaw.com was the web's most-trafficked legal information site, according to comScore data. And FindLaw's Lawyer Directory saw more users searching for a lawyer than any other online attorney directory.

ComScore's recent release of 2009 data from its Media Matrix product, which measures traffic at competing online attorney directories, confirms that consumers seeking legal information look for it at FindLaw far more often than anywhere else -- 1.9 million consumer visitors per month came to FindLaw.com in 2009, more than twice as many as visited any other legal information site.
