Just last week we went over the benefits of starting your own LinkedIn Group, and you've just coined a clever name for your group and now, we have the audacity to tell you that you should do more. We hear you. Don't you already have enough on your plate with your blog, Twitter, Facebook page, LinkedIn group, and, oh yeah, your clients? Do you really need to add one more form of social media to this already, ever-expanding list?
Monica Zent seems to think so -- that's why she founded Foxwordy -- a social network just for lawyers.
What is Foxwordy?
Foxwordy is a "cloud-based collaboration platform for lawyers" that allows for collaboration between lawyers so they can "work effectively and grow professionally." Foxwordy recognizes that attorneys have different, old-school ways of keeping up with niche practice and developments, and wants to bring about a revolutionary change in how lawyers share information and work together.
Do You Need Foxwordy?
Do you need Foxwordy? We're not sure. It's like asking if you needed Twitter back in 2008. Looking back the answer is yes, but it could have easily gone the way of Myspace. Will Foxwordy be the next -- Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram?
We're not sure. And for now, you won't need to worry about it too much because membership is by invitation only. We imagine that's just for the introductory phase as they test out the platform, usage and viability. Remember when Gmail and Pinterest were invitation only? We're guessing that if it grows in popularity, Foxwordy will drop their invitations and open up to all lawyers -- we just don't know if it will even make it that far.
