Mark Hunt Sues UFC and Brock Lesnar for Fraud and Racketeering

Recently, Mark Hunt, the mixed martial arts fighter that made it to FindLaw's Tarnished Twenty after threatening to personally sue his UFC opponents that cheat, has filed a lawsuit against Brock Lesnar and the whole UFC. Hunt is alleging that UFC and Lesnar conspired together, and not just that the league was simply negligent in not expediting Lesnar's drug tests.

Hunt, who lost his match against Lesnar last year, attempted to work out some sort of settlement with the UFC when it was discovered that Lesnar had used performance enhancing drugs and had failed two pre-fight drug tests. However, the UFC has been unwilling to compromise. In essence the UFC stated that since they have been lenient regarding their rules on PEDs in the past, Hunt had no expectation that UFC wouldn't be lenient in Lesnar's case.

Ultimate Fraud Charges

Mark Hunt is not holding back in the lawsuit he filed this year. On top of the garden variety negligence and breach of contract claims, he is specifically alleging fraud, conspiracy, and racketeering claims. Basically, these claims assert that the league either knew, or should have known and didn't care that, Lesnar was doping, and they consented to it because it inured to them a benefit (in terms of a better fight).

Lesnar is personally sued for his own part in both perpetrating the fraud, and continuing the conspiracy. Lesnar was paid over $2 million just for the fight, then received an additional Pay-per-view bonus, which Hunt alleges is also in the millions of dollars. Meanwhile, Hunt, as the loser, only received $700,000 for the fight.

One issue that Hunt's attorneys have been dealing with is that the UFC is not imposing their own policies. Despite the attempts of Hunt's attorneys to get the UFC to follow their own anti-doping policies, the UFC has refused.
