WestlawNext iPad App Now Even More Powerful, Useful

Attorneys know that time is money. New associates will understand this lesson especially well after seeing their billable hours cut in half for the first time. But fear not, the most recent update to the WestLawNext iPad app might just be the thing to solve this most heinous of heartache.

Developed by Thomson Reuters, the revised app incorporates some pretty nifty features that weren't available in previous versions. Most notably the app now has access to West km, Westlaw's knowledge management service that can do wonders for even the most disorganized of offices.

West km is a powerful tool that allows users to securely share and organize their firm's work products and documents. Users can manage their own virtual client file database and share it with their whole firm through West km. The difference is that now this can all be done on an iPad.

In addition, West km also automatically links to Westlaw KeyCite and will keep track of any cited authorities in your files.

Cooler still is that West km can actually verify whether those authorities are up to date and notify you of any changes in the law. It can even add relevant citations on its own. A pretty handy time-saving feature, especially for new attorneys.

The app still retains the same functionality from previous versions. Users can still do all the same things, like search for cases, statutes, and secondary sources via Westlaw's legal database.

The updated app will likely be quite popular for attorneys on the go since the added West km compatibility makes mobile lawyering easier than ever.

Best of all, the app is still free. You can download the latest Westlaw Next iPad app here.
