A successful candidate for the job will be a graduate from an accredited law school with a strong academic background and superior legal research and writing skills. Preference may be given to candidates that have prior experience as court staff or as a judicial law clerk. Also, preference may be given to candidates who have Law Review experience or legal writing experience.
Most importantly, applicants must be U.S. Citizens or eligible to work in the United States.
The primary responsibilities of the Staff Attorney will be to make recommendations to the court on substantive motions, appeals decided without oral argument, original proceedings, and emergency matters. The Staff Attorney will work in an office consisting of twenty attorneys and four support staff.
The Staff Attorney will also confer with the judges, perform legal research, prepare legal memoranda and draft proposed opinions.
