Missouri police arrested a 12-year-old boy who allegedly shot and killed his stepfather and mother on Monday. Police had been called to the Palace Lane Estates mobile home park in Kaiser, Missouri after the boy dialed 911. Miller Country Sheriff's Department took the boy into custody; he has been charged in juvenile court with first-degree murder. A hearing will be held to determine whether he will be charged as an adult or juvenile. No information has been made public about the boy because of his age.

The boy first called his grandmother, then called 911 to report the shooting of his parents. Their bodies had multiple gunshot wounds. According to deputies, the boy originally claimed that someone else broke in and shot his parents and police were initially looking for another assailant.

Fox of St. Louis, Missouri interviewed two Palace Lane Estates neighbors that were shocked to hear the news. "He didn't seem like the sort of kid that would do that," neighbor Stephen Garner said. "You wouldn't expect that from him. He liked to walk his dog he liked to ride his bike." Garner's wife, Esperanza, agreed. "He seemed like a very quiet boy," she said.

The Garners indicated that the shooting may have had something to do with the boy's living situation, indicating that they believed his father assaulted him. "He went up to one of the neighbors, and I guess he was upset. He wanted to live up there.... Then, I guess he made a comment to the affect of I'll just take care of it myself.'"

No word at this time whether the 12-year-old boy has legal representation.
