Learn How to Litigate Bad Faith Insurance Claims

By George Khoury, Esq. on October 02, 2018 6:56 AM

Navigating normal litigation when insurance adjusters are involved can be complicated, but most attorneys don't struggle too much with making adjusters fall in line ... or suffer.

But when it comes to bad faith insurance litigation, that's a whole different matter, and a whole different area of law, for that matter. Not only are the claims complex, but issues surrounding assignments of rights, or even coverages, can quickly expose those litigators who have no business pressing forward with a bad faith insurance case. Fortunately, The Rutter Group has an upcoming seminar that will benefit both novice and experienced litigators looking to bring or defend bad faith insurance cases. (Disclaimer: The Rutter Group is a sister company to FindLaw.)

The Faith to Litigate

Whether you're willing to litigate or defend a bad faith matter often comes down to how comfortable you are with your own competency. Fortunately, whether you're starting from zero, or have already handled a few bad faith matters, (additional) training is available, and more training will certainly increase your comfort level.

To help you get to where you want to be, The Rutter Group's The Shernoff Insurance Bad Faith Seminar will cover various topics ranging from the handling of first and third party fire and health claims to providing critical insights on the duty to defend and how to "open up" a policy. Not to mention, the seminar also provides an overview (the basic "ABCs") of bad faith trial, from preliminary pretrial matters through the closing and all important punitive damages phase. Simply put, if you want to get better at bad faith insurance litigation, this training session is for you.

Learn From Experience

The Shernoff Insurance Bad Faith Seminar has been around for 30-plus years. The founder, William Shernoff, several other experienced bad faith litigators, and Judge Daniel Buckley of the Los Angeles Superior Court, will present the various topics.

The full day live seminar will be held on Friday October 19, 2018, from 9:00 a.m to 4:45 p.m. in The L.A. Grand Hotel Downtown. The program will provide 6 CLE credits. And like other programs by The Rutter Group, the companion California Practice Guide: Insurance Litigation, will be available for purchase for half-price for those who register.
