The timing could not have been worse for Motely Crue singer Vince Neil who was arrested on suspicion of DUI as he is set to release a new CD, and memoir, titled Tattoos and Tequila.

Motley Crue frontman Vince Neil was arrested on drinking and driving charges in Las Vegas, MTV News reports.

The singer was taken to Clark County Jail with bail set at $2,000. No other details are available, except that it was accident related. It is unknown whether any injuries were involved.

Neil's first solo album in 15 years, Tattoos & Tequila, was just released. His memoir by the same name is scheduled hit store shelves in September.

Earlier this year, Neil had a grand opening for his tequila bar, Vince Neil's Tres Rios, at the Las Vegas Hilton.

In general, DUI laws make it unlawful for a person to operate just about any type of vehicle if:

  • The driver's ability to safely operate the vehicle is impaired by the effects of alcohol, illegal drugs, prescribed medications such as painkillers, or even over-the-counter medications such as antihistamines; or
  • The driver is intoxicated at a level above established DUI standards, such as blood-alcohol concentration (BAC).

It also has been reported that in 1984, Neil was driving drunk when he had an accident that killed his passenger, Hanoi Rocks drummer Nicholas "Razzle" Dingley. He was subsequently sentenced to 30 days in jail.

In addition, in 2004, Neil was arrested on assault claims and charges.  He was wanted on a warrant after being involved in a fight during a concert in Texas.
