Teen Mom star Amber Portwood's suicide attempt has reportedly landed her in the hospital.
Portwood, 21, was first flung into the spotlight as her pregnancy was featured on MTV's reality show 16 and Pregnant. She then starred on MTV's Teen Mom.
Portwood has also recently made headlines for her relationship with ex-boyfriend and father of her daughter Gary Shirley. A violent fight between the two former lovebirds even played out on TV screens nationwide during an episode of Teen Mom.
Adding to the ups and downs of her life, Portwood apparently lost custody of her daughter on May 11th, and most recently pleaded guilty to two counts of domestic battery, reports CBS News.
Maybe all the stress in her life, in combination with being in the spotlight at such a young age, is what triggered reports of young Amber Portwood's suicide attempt.
While the details of what happened are unclear and have yet to be confirmed, Portwood was allegedly found overdosed on pills, with a rope tied loosely around her neck, according to initial reports by gossip magazine Star. EMTs arrived after somebody who was in Portwood's house called the authorities reporting that she was threatening to end her own life.
Authorities say that Portwood did not appear to be injured and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation, reports CBS News.
Suicide is generally not illegal - so committing suicide is not a crime. Given the state of Portwood's legal affairs - her domestic battery charges, losing custody of her daughter, and her rocky relationship with her baby's father, there are many stressful events that might have led to her alleged suicide attempt.
Whatever motivated her recent actions, Teen Mom Amber Portwood's suicide attempt should not be taken lightly. Hopefully, her evaluation and stay at the hospital will do her some good.
