Michelle Howard says that her husband, Iron Man actor Terrence Howard, abused her. She has secured a temporary restraining order against her estranged husband.

Howard will be forbidden to contact his wife, and cannot go within 100 yards of her until their next court hearing on January 17, 2012.

Michelle Howard says that her husband threatened to kill her. Howard says that his wife has been trying to get him to pay her money by threatening to release "private materials" (whatever that is) if he doesn't.

The temporary restraining order was granted by the judge after Michelle submitted a lengthy declaration that detailed the abuse.

She says that Howard started abusing her shortly after they married in January 2010. In one incident, she alleges that the Law & Order: Los Angeles star grabbed her, threw her, and threatened to throw her off a hotel balcony. In a separate incident, she says she chipped her tooth after he struck her.

To support her accusations, Howard's wife may need to bring in photographs or evidence of injuries. However, it's possible that the court could rely on her testimony if it's credible.

Michelle Howard also has another piece of evidence she could potentially use against her husband. The actor reportedly sent her a text message that read:

"Satan is taunting me and there is no rest for my mind. So I beg you not to exercise the right that you have, divorce me and do what you wish but do not crush my families [sic] already threatened livelihood. I can't promise how I will respond."

This could read as a threat against Michelle Howard. Domestic violence does not need to be physical, it can also be emotional. Though, the actor has responded that he sent a message to Michelle right after indicating his text was not meant to be a threat.
