Deion Sanders Gets Custody, Pilar Gets Restraining Order

By Stephanie Rabiner, Esq. on May 08, 2012 12:20 PM

Deion Sanders gets custody! And a restraining order against his wife.

These are just the latest legal decisions in the highly publicized and bitter divorce battle between Deion and Pilar Sanders. The estranged couple found themselves in court on Monday to deal with an April 24 altercation.

The former NFL star famously tweeted a photo of himself and his kids filling out police reports last month, after Pilar attacked him in front of their children. Pilar then filed her own police report, and they both ended up asking the court for a restraining order.

Deion Sanders' restraining order was the only one granted, according to the Associated Press. That's because the judge ruled that Pilar's injuries were the result of Deion having acted in self-defense. She's been ordered to stay 500 feet away from their Dallas home.

The home is his separate property, according to Reuters, so attorneys expected her to be kicked out.

On the child front, the judge also awarded Deion Sanders custody pending a full hearing, which is scheduled for May 15. This decision was likely the result of Pilar's violent actions towards her estranged husband. Moreover, the judge was probably trying not to disrupt the children's lives -- it seems they permanently reside at their father's home.

Whether full custody is in Deion Sanders' future is unknown, but he's still celebrating all that he has won. How, you ask? Well, take a look at this tweet:

"The truth was told baby! I'm doing my dance with my old Falcon uniform on with my gold jacket over it and some cleats! Lol"
