Camille Grammer is set to receive $30 million in her divorce from actor Kelsey Grammer, as the couple finalizes their divorce settlement.
It's never bad news to receive $30 million, but the former star of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" had been hoping to receive much more -- as much as $50 million, reports The Christian Post.
Kelsey Grammer had reportedly offered Camille Grammer a similar $30 million divorce settlement amount last December, which Camille had turned down.
When a couple divorces, it is generally up to the former spouses to work out a property and divorce settlement that can cover alimony, child support, and parental custody of any children. If the divorcing parties are unable to work out an agreement, then courts or a third-party mediator get involved.
In Camille and Kelsey Grammer's divorce, the couple appears to have worked out a divorce settlement on their own. While Camille Grammer reportedly sought more money, it appears that a quick settlement of $30 million was worth more to her than prolonging the divorce proceedings and airing their dirty laundry in public.
If the property division issue had gone to court, it's uncertain whether Camille Grammer could have received more. The value of the property in dispute is $60 million, and Camille Grammer will receive about 50% of the couple's assets in the settlement, reports The Christian Post.
That's about the same amount Camille would have received under California's community property system. In community property states, each spouse is generally entitled to 50% of jointly held assets upon divorce, unless the spouses agree otherwise.
Camille and Kelsey Grammer had been married for 13 years and have three children together. Camille Grammer sought a divorce after Kelsey Grammer allegedly cheated on her with his current wife Kayte Walsh, reports The Christian Post.
