Rap and reality television star Flavor Flav was arrested in Las Vegas following a strange domestic dispute.
Police were called to Flavor Flav's house at about 3:30 in the morning, after the rapper had an altercation with his fiancee of eight years, Elizabeth Trujillo, and her 17-year-old son, reports CNN.
The rapper and his fiancee started to argue after allegations that Flavor Flav was cheating, according to a police domestic battery report. The argument reportedly turned physical as Flavor Flav allegedly threw his fiancee to the ground several times. That's when Trujillo's son got involved and things got really interesting.
During the argument, Flavor Flav, whose real name is William Drayton and who is 53-years-old, allegedly grabbed Trujillo by her shoulders, stomach, and arms, and threw her to the ground two separate times, reports CNN. During the melee, Trujillo said an earring was ripped out of her ear.
At that point, Trujillo's son got involved and wrestled with Flavor Flav. The teenager is significantly bigger than Flavor Flav, which may have prompted the rapper to grab two knives from the kitchen. Armed with knives, Flavor Flav allegedly chase around the teen until the teen locked himself in his sister's room.
Flav then allegedly continued to bang on the door and make threats to the boy's life, reports CNN. At some point, Flavor Flav reportedly cut himself with one of the knives and injured himself.
Flavor Flav reportedly confirmed the reports, but denies having chased the teen or threatening to kill him. The entertainer was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon and battery.
Flavor Flav's alleged crimes serve as a good reminder that domestic violence often involves much more than a husband striking a wife. Instead, other family members often get involved and bear the brunt of the assault. Victims of domestic violence can take steps to protect themselves, such as filing for a temporary restraining order. If you have questions about domestic violence, you may want to talk to a family law attorney.
