Most law grads who take a bar review course tend to hear the requisite bar exam horror stories. Your computer might crash in the middle of the exam, forcing you to handwrite pages of essays.

On the day of the exam, a huge traffic accident may occur on the freeway that you're meant to take, meaning that what was once a half an hour drive to the testing center is now a two-hour long bumper-to-bumper road-rage fueled horror.

How about if you're pregnant, and you go into labor during the exam? Well, for one woman taking the Illinois bar that's exactly what happened.

And, the intrepid attorney-to-be and mother-to-be didn't pause or give up. She calmly finished up the MBEs while in labor and then went off to deliver her baby at the local hospital, according to Above the Law.

An impressive feat, to say the least.

It's also something inspirational that future bar exam takers should keep close to heart.

While struggling to finish up the MBE questions or battling through essay questions may seem arduous and laborious, they certainly can't be as laborious as real labor.

Of course, while it is impressive and inspirational to be able to finish the bar while in labor, it's also something that most bar exam takers should try to avoid. Not all are capable of working through the double pain of giving birth and reading dull property hypotheticals.

So, how can you avoid making your own similar bar exam horror story? Well, for one, if you're male, you're just genetically lucky. If you're a female, then try to make sure that your family planning doesn't end up interfering with your bar exam planning. Going into labor during the bar exam is probably no picnic - and it might mean you can't take that month-long post-bar trip of your dreams.
