Block on Trump's Asylum Ban Upheld by Supreme Court
Suspended divorce attorney, Karen Andrade, probably would have been able to maintain her alleged secret identity had it not been for her neighbor's busy-body ways.
Perhaps it's too soon to tell. Andrade, 51, was charged with prostitution and pleaded not guilty to sexual conduct for a fee in a Northampton District Court; and she was released on her own recognizance.
Investigations into Andrade's behavior first began when her next door neighbor alerted local police that she had seen numerous men coming and going to Andrade's apartment and only staying a short while. A few clicks later, Southamptom police found reviews of Andrade -- as an attorney and as an escort. Though her name was not mentioned, her phone number appeared in the advertisements.
Witnesses and Johns
Later, police questioned Andrade about the ads when they visited her residence on motor vehicle charges. A 20-year-old witness claimed to have met Andrade on the Internet and met with her for alcohol. Later, it was alleged that police found a local resident whose relationship with Andrade initially started out as platonic, but then eventually transformed into an "in-call escort" arrangement. To make matters worse, a number of incriminating items were found by the police at Andrade's including lube, condoms, and toys.
The Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers placed suspended Andrade's license to practice and held a disciplinary proceeding pending against her. When Andrade failed to appear, respond, or request a hearing once a Board inquiry was opened against her, her suspension was made indefinite.
Life as a Family Law Attorney
Andrade's career as an attorney shows a long curriculum of family law work including child custody cases, divorce, and mediation. She has resolved matters involving the Department of Children and Families and has worked as a guardian ad litem for children in probate court and juvenile cases.
