Over 22,000 "Bugaboo Bee" baby strollers are being recalled because of a brake defect that can cause the strollers to roll away.
The affected "Bugaboo Bee" strollers were sold nationwide from August 2007 to April 2009 -- in blue, dark khaki, pink, red, yellow, and black color options -- for about $530.
If you think you might own one of these strollers, here's what to look for, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission:
The problem with the recalled strollers is that the brakes on one or both sides can fail and cause the stroller to roll away, especially on an incline. While Bugaboo has received 121 reports of the strollers' brakes failing, no injuries have been reported in connection with the problem, according to the CPSC, which announced the recall on Tuesday.
Bugaboo North America, Inc. (based in Hermosa, California) is offering consumers a free bracket kit that should repair the brake defect problem. Owners of the affected strollers should visit www.bugaboo.com or call the company at (800) 460-2922 between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Pacific time on weekdays.
