Block on Trump's Asylum Ban Upheld by Supreme Court
Leave it to a UC Santa Cruz student to construct a two-pound joint worth an estimated $15,000.
From the perspective of the toker, police patrolling the University of California, Santa Cruz campus totally vaporized the fun at a 4/20 party when they confiscated the colossal marijuana joint.
Here's a video clip of the massive joint being confiscated, which has now gone viral:
The 4/20 celebration at UC Santa Cruz reportedly drew thousands of revelers, The Huffington Post reports. The video shows officers hauling away the comically gigantic joint, to the dismay of a dazed and confused crowd.
The alleged roller of the monster joint reportedly warned the cops that, "Dude. We're going to court, man. We're totally going to court."
Is the joint-roller-dude right about being able to sue the cop-dudes?
Nah, brah. Not in California. Unless the guy has some truly horrible unpredecented medical condition and had a medical marijuana license, chances are he was not allowed to have a two-pound joint. Recreational marijuana possession is still illegal in California.
Even in the medical marijuana context, California's medical marijuana dispensaries are going through a rough legal patch. An aggressive federal prosecutor launched a major crackdown, and dispensaries throughout California are being banned from local municipalities -- with the effect of forcing patients and caretakers to grow their marijuana themselves.
The fight against the bans is being duked out in a case called The City of Riverside v. Inland Empire Health and Wellness Center; the other side is saying that local governments can't ban what California law makes lawful. The California Supreme Court recently heard oral arguments in the matter, with a decision expected soon.
On a national level, the two-pound joint roller should be happy to know that a recent Pew poll indicates a majority of Americans support legalizing marijuana.
One can only wonder how the officer cured his back pain after hauling away that heavy joint...
