Florida Mom Drops Kids at the Waffle House, Goes Drinking

By Christopher Coble, Esq. on July 22, 2015 3:30 PM

Who among us hasn't needed a drink or a few, only to be stuck with the kids? (Or maybe you need a few drinks because you're stuck with the kids.) Well, one Florida mom thought she found the perfect solution -- leave the kids in a Waffle House and go drink in the bar across the street.

What could possibly go wrong?

Bacon, Eggs, and Babysitting.

Turns out, Waffle House is a terrible babysitter. The restaurant couldn't even keep the three kids occupied for 90 minutes before the kids started crying and wandering out into the street. They even nickel-and-dimed the mother, Rhiannon Gentry, saying she hadn't left enough money to pay for the kids' meal.

All Gentry wanted to do was a have a few drinks in the nearby Wild Wing Cafe with a couple of men, (she told officers she was merely running over to pay a previous tab) and here Waffle House couldn't watch over two 12-year-olds and an 11-year-old. It's the least the restaurant could do, considering Gentry was saddled with another woman's child, whom she had met at the hotel pool earlier and promised the woman she would take out to dinner.

Florida Mom

It's hard to get too mad at Gentry here. After all, she didn't:

Gentry was just one overworked mom who needed a drink and thought Waffle House could do her a solid and keep an eye on the kids for a minute. Thanks for nothing, Waffle House.
