Georgia Man Burgles 7 Cars, Falls Asleep in 8th, Gets Arrested

Theft is exhausting. Just ask Timothy Zacharie, who, after a long night of breaking into eight different cars and pilfering everything from credit cards and IDs to cash and gift cards, finally succumbed to the sweet peace of sleep in the eighth and final car, only to be roused by sheriff's deputies and hauled off to jail.

We guess it's true what they say: there is no rest for the wicked.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a call reporting someone stealing from vehicles in the Tyson Woods subdivision in Acworth, about 30 miles northwest of Atlanta. A deputy found the 23-year-old Zacharie sleeping inside an unlocked car parked in front of a residence in the neighborhood and arrested him. Zacharie was caught napping with cash, credit cards, gift cards, and IDs belonging to other residents of the subdivision, and was charged with eight counts of entering an auto, one count of burglary, and one probation violation.

All told, Zacharie is looking at a combined 60 years in prison, if he is convicted on all counts and serves his sentences consecutively. That's a pretty harsh punishment for catching a few z's. Which is all to say that you should definitely not sleep on Georgia's motor vehicle theft laws.
