Note to inmates: when you attempt to escape from your holding cell, check that you're actually leaving the building.

A Kentucky inmate could have used that advice when he took a wrong turn in his break for freedom and ended up back in court. Now instead of enjoying freedom, he's a national joke.

Out of the frying pan and into the fire.

The inmate was being kept in a holding cell after an altercation earlier that morning. When police attempted to get another man out of the holding cell, this prisoner rushed the officer in an attempt to escape.

His grand attempt made it all of 20 feet when he ran directly into a court room.

Police have not released any identifying information about the man, but thanks to courtroom video footage, he at least got his 15 minutes of fame:

It's bad enough that this man's sad escape attempt is playing all over the Internet. To add insult to injury, this unidentified man's run from his holding cell earned him charges for attempted escape and assault in addition to the original charges against him.

If he didn't seem like a good candidate for bail before, the judge is certainly not going to consider the option now. One of the factors in setting bail for an alleged criminal is whether he or she poses a flight risk.

This man's escape attempt, albeit failed, probably established that he is, in fact, likely to make another attempt to break free.
