Kavanaugh Faces New Sexual Misconduct Accusations

In the wake of the allegations made by Christine Ford against Brett Kavanaugh, two more women have come forward with their own accounts.

As of yet, only one of the two other women have publicly come forward though. Debbie Ramirez, a former Yale classmate of Kavanaugh's, has described a college dormitory party she attended, where Kavanaugh is alleged to have exposed himself to her, in front of several others. And though Kavanaugh steadfastly denies these allegations, reports seem to suggest that Ramirez's account has been substantiated by others.

Kavanaugh, the Bad Drunk

As a result of the Ramirez story, others have come forward to explain that Kavanaugh's social circle in college involved a lot of heavy drinking. In the recent New Yorker piece (linked above), a former classmate recalled being told about the incident in college, and specifically remembered that it was Kavanaugh who exposed himself to Ramirez.

That same classmate recalled that Kavanaugh was a generally shy person until he started drinking, at which time, he would become aggressive and belligerent. Another classmates recalled hearing about the incident, but was unaware of the identities of the people involved. Notably though, other classmates have come to the defense of Kavanaugh. A former friend of Ramirez asserted that she was never told about the incident by Ramirez, despite being a close friend during that time in college.

Smearing a SCOTUS Hopeful

Brett Kavanaugh and his supporters have been rather vocal that these allegations are all untrue and are nothing more than a smear campaign. He specifically testified that as an adult, he had never sexually assaulted or harassed anyone. Interestingly though, Michael Avenatti has asserted that a recently retained client has new allegations of sexual misconduct against Kavanaugh, and will be appearing publicly in the next couple days.

In the shadow of the pending Avenatti bombshell, it is expected that Ford and Kavanaugh will both be testifying this Thursday. Whether the committee will convene to vote afterwards is another question entirely at this point given the newest, and pending, allegations.
