Fear the Brow: Anthony Davis Trademarks Unibrow

Michael Jordan has his tongue. James Harden has his beard. And now Anthony Davis has his unibrow.

By far the best college prospect this year, Anthony Davis also has perhaps the most identifiable physical trait of any draftee: his unibrow.

During his one year career at the University of Kentucky, everyone but Davis profited from the unibrow. But now that won't be the case as Davis trademarked his unibrow.

Anthony Davis signed with powerhouse agent Arn Tellem of the Wasserman Media Group. Tellem quickly went to work protecting what's most marketable about Davis. While Davis was able to secure a deal with telephone company Sprint, the biggest moneymaker for Davis will likely be merchandise connected to his brow, reports CNBC.

Trademarking the phrases "Fear The Brow" and "Raise The Brow," Davis can now license these phrases to companies who hope to profit off the young man likely to become the face of New Orleans. Regarding the trademark, Davis said, "I don't want anyone to try to grow a unibrow because of me and then try to make money off of it ... Me and my family decided to trademark it because it's very unique," reports CNBC.

Last year, if you caught any part of Kentucky's run to the championship, you would have seen unibrow themed merchandise in the stands. Many made money off the merchandise, but Davis was not one of them. As an amateur athlete, Davis could not capitalize according to NCAA rules.

With the trademark, rights to the Anthony Davis unibrow will belong to him. If the rookie manages to turn unibrows into a national style trend, that may be a more impressive feat than any numbers he puts up.
