NFL Crime Week: Kenny Britt, Corey Williams Face DUI Charges

It has been another bad week for the NFL and crime. When you start the week with Dez Bryant beating his own mother, you know it can only go downhill for there.

Today, Tennessee Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt was arrested for drunk driving. Hours later, it was reported that yet another Detroit Lion, Corey Williams, also faced a DUI charge. These two followed an incident earlier this week when Seattle Seahawk Marshawn Lynch was arrested for a DUI in California.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell came into the league vowing that he would clamp down on off-the-field issues with an iron fist. But so far, his tactics do not seem to have deterred anything. Superstars like Adrian Peterson have been arrested for late-night incidents at clubs, promising rookies have been stabbed at parties, and seemingly half the Detroit Lions have been arrested.

In Kenny Britt's case, you can probably expect Goodell to come down particularly hard. After all, this is Britt's eighth incident involving police since he was drafted in 2009, reports Yahoo! One of his prior incidents involved trying to elude cops and another one involved getting caught with pot in his vehicle just one day later.

With Corey Williams, one can make the argument that the big defensive tackle just wanted to fit in with his teammates. Williams' arrest actually stems from an incident last year, and was not made public until today. He was pulled over at a traffic stop in Arkansas for crossing the center line, and later failed a field sobriety test, reports the Detroit Free Press.

Roger Goodell probably can't wait for the season to start. Left to their own devices, players are making every week a crime week in the NFL.
