SEC Comment Search 2.0: Launches New Tool for Filers

Preparing SEC filings can be a daunting task, such that entire courses are dedicated to demystifying the process.  But Intelligize, Inc.--the same document technology company that last month released a proprietary search tool to assist filers in conducting legal research in preparation for SEC regulatory filings--announced the launch of its latest product this week fittingly titled "Comment Check".

Where Intelligize's legal research product, Precedent Check, focuses on searching for relevant precedent and law when filing an initial Securities and Exchange Commission submission, Comment Check assists filers in the next phase--after the SEC has responded to the filing with its comments and questions.  Instead of re-creating the wheel with each filing, subscribers to the service can use the proprietary search tools to find similar comments and responses in other SEC filings, view entire strings of exchanges between companies and the SEC, and even filter responses by SEC examiners and firms.

Comment Check was developed by former Wall Street attorneys and, according to the online demo, is simple enough to use--enabling broad searches by simple terms as well as refined searches filtered according to market listings, companies, industry, SEC form type, and specific examiner.  Intelligize's theory is that these types of stratified searches will make the filing process more efficient and focused, allowing companies to address specific concerns the SEC has had in the past with similar filings so as to avoid time-consuming and resource-draining back-and-forth communications with the SEC.

Curious? For a limited time Intelligize is offering a free trial.
