3 Simple Apps to Help You Stay Organized

Does your desk look a mess? Do you often find yourself wondering where you put your notes, or just what time that meeting was scheduled for? That's because you're unorganized.

Don't worry, it happens to all of us. But, thankfully, it's not that hard to stay on top of things. It doesn't require any massive life changes, it just requires a few apps. Here are three that should help you stay put together and on top of matters.

1. Evernote, for Note Taking and More

For just about a decade, Evernote has dominated the note-taking-app-space and it makes sense. The free productivity app allows you to take notes, record voice memos, add images and sketches -- all in the same document and easily sharable. The app can take some getting used to, but once you've got it down, it's a great way to help you stay organized.

2. Wunderlist, for List Making

Lists don't just help you organize your tasks, they provide that deeply satisfying feeling you get every time you strike an item from your "to do," whether it's closing a matter or just picking up groceries. Wunderlist makes list making pretty easy and enjoyable -- even kind of pretty, given the app's graceful design. You can easily create and share lists, collaborate with others on task lists, and create subtasks. Plus, since you set deadlines for completing tasks, Wunderlist gives you a friendly nudge when you're not caught up.

3. Toggl, for Managing Your Billable Hours

Forget lists and notes, if you're not accurately tracking your hours, you're in serious trouble. Where the billable hour is king, keeping track of your time is one of your most important tasks. No app could really make that task pleasurable, but some of them make it easier. Toggl is one of those apps. You just start a timer when you start working on a matter, then turn it off when you're done. You can set billable hour rates, associate tasks with specific clients, and share reports easily. It's a major time saver.
